Firestop Installation
Air Plenum technicians will examine your facility and prepare a report detailing any potential problems as well as make recommendations and proposals to correct problems including:
- Fire and smoke hazard
- Fire code violations
- A/C loss
- Room overheating
Wall penetrations are a tremendous risk for data centers. A fire starting anywhere in the building produces smoke that gets to the data center setting off the fire suppression system. When fire actually gets to the data center, the fire suppression system is already exhausted and will not be able to secure the room. Any penetration in the wall, not sealed correctly, is a big risk.
Any contractor that penetrates a wall at a data center might or might not seal the hole. Usually the walls have 1 to 2 hours fire rating, but one hole brings that rating down to minutes. An improper sealed hole could create big problems. First of all, to build a 2 hour fire resisting wall involves a substantially high cost. Second of all, having a hole it a wall does not justifies the cost of building a high rating fire resisting wall. Air Plenum has FIT certified firestop technicians and uses UL approved materials. Air Plenum guarantees the sealed holes will bring the resistance of the wall at its initial fire endurance.
It is not often that a fire would start in the data center. The probability of such event is of 13%. The fire detection systems will go off when detecting smoke or even high density dust. Companies trust their fire suppression system but if the rooms are not entirely sealed, a fire suppression system is useless.
