QUESTION

Can I reduce insurance costs by having my room sealed for protection from fire and water?

- Rob Haller, Vice President of Programs, ISACA Pittsburgh
(asked during a recent Air Plenum information session.)

Response to last month's question:

We contacted several insurance agencies to present the scenario to them. To their knowledge, "there would be no additional credits given due to a compartmentalization procedure. It would be to the customers benefit and piece of mind knowing the room is air tight and could be minimizing a potential loss." They added a disclaimer stating that all insurance companies are not the same. They recommend to contact your insurance provider and inquire.

We at Air Plenum recommend checking with your insurance provider and disaster recovery teams to see how it can be a cost saving procedure as well as a disaster planning necessity.
